What We Do

The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps (CICC) is a uniformed youth development organisation for secondary-school students aged 11–18. It is supported by a small full-time staff and a dedicated volunteer cadre serving as adult officers and NCOs.

CICC builds citizenship, leadership, service, and personal responsibility while instilling self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. Cadets develop practical skills and confidence for future education, work, and community life.

Detachments include Land, Band, Sea Cadets, Fire Cadets, and Cayman Brac. The programme encourages school completion and offers rewarding opportunities that benefit cadets, their communities, and the Cayman Islands.

Band Cadets

Most Cadet Corps have a band, and cadets are invited to perform at all kinds of events at home and abroad. The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps is no different.

In addition to gaining the technical ability to play an instrument, music improves commitment, discipline and self-esteem.

Sea Cadets

The sea cadet detachment comprises everyday young people interested in seamanship, the military, or other seagoing careers.

The sea cadets aims to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of genuine service to the community. Participants will develop the qualities of a good citizen and will be exposed to all the facets of maritime life.

Army Cadets

The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps training programme is patterned off the UK Army Cadet Force (ACF) (The Cadet Training Manual), with input from other Cadet Corps.

It is tailored to meet the needs of high school children in the Cayman Islands, as well as being competitive with regional and international Cadet Corps.

Fire Cadets

The new fire cadet detachment will be led by experienced instructors from both CICC and the Cayman Islands Fire Service (CIFS), who will lead them through twelve months of training. During this time, the cadets will benefit from a more advanced programme of training as compared to a regular infantry cadet, who do basic familiarisation training with the CIFS once annually.

Organisation and Functions

The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps (CICC) is a youth development organization with cadet membership reserved for male and female high school students between the ages of 11 and 18. The program has full-time staff members but is mostly made up of enthusiastic volunteers from a cross-section of the Caymanian community, who serve in the adult officer and NCO ranks. The CICC is designed to teach high school students the value of citizenship, leadership, service to the community, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment while instilling in them self-esteem, teamwork, and self-discipline. It prepares them for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as Caymanians. The Cadet Corps has multiple detachments; the Land detachment, the Band detachment, the Sea Cadets detachment, the Fire Cadets detachment, and the Cayman Brac detachment. The Cadets program is a stimulus that promotes graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and country.
